CONNECT as Program

CONNECT is a comprehensive program with the aim not only to link young women scientists with role models in industry and public sector, but also to foster their awareness of career planning. Participants are asked to attend 6 - 7 one-day workshops over the course of approximately 6 months and to bring in their ideas, visions, thoughts and perspective.

The program is held in English except for the workshop with DETEC (see more details further down)

Pre-Program

Participation at the CONNECT program underlies a competitive selection.
Each academic institution has a limited number of seats to assign, as the overall number of participants is limited to 35 seats. Therefore, application underlies a strict procedure.

Application

There is an application window open from approx. mid of June until August 27, 2021. Application is done by filling in the application form including upload of a CV and a motivation letter.

Selection

An independent selection committee with at least 3 members  reads all applications and selects according to motivation and fit. Each institution is responsible for the selection of the sponsored participants.

Confirmation

By mid of September, all participants will be informed by the CONNECT project leader on who of the applicants has been selected to participate.

«The networking aspects both between the participants as well as between the role-models from the companies are excellent. Furthermore the general structure of first having a coaching session, then visiting the companies and finishing with all together is a nice and round concept.»

As soon as the dates are defined with the project partners, they will be updated here.

Career Boost

Your career will experience a boost in the sense that you definitely will have an idea of your next career step and what you will have to do to reach it - indepentenly whether you will continue in academia or move to industry.

Energy

There is a lot of positive energy around among the participants but also when mingling with the role models. Take this energy with you and feel supported when thinking about your career.

What you will not experience

Recruiting

CONNECT is not a recruiting program. There are no interviews taking place nor can participants hand over their CV at the events. Project partners do have access to the CV of those participants agreeing on this access. Participants are welcome to connect with role models by sharing business cards or network on LinkedIn.

Interview Training

CONNECT is not a training for job interviews or assessment centers. Nevertheless, participants will receive information about CV creation and will also have the opportunity to talk to project partners' HR representatives.

Decision making

If participants expect to be told what they should do next to have a perfect career, they will be disappointed. Any decision made during the program is up to the participant.
